Chairman and Executive Member of the Internal Sharia Supervision Committee He previously served as the Dean of the College of Shariah and Law (now the College of Law) at United Arab Emirates University from 2006 to 2013. He holds a doctorate in Law and Islamic Shariah and began his academic career in 1990, achieving professorship in 2001.

He has been a member of the Higher Shariah Authority of the UAE Central Bank since its inception. Since 2017, he has also served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation and Arbitration. In addition, he is actively involved as a chairman and panel member of several Shariah committees within Islamic financial institutions across the UAE.

Professor Al Shamsi has worked as a consultant for United Arab Emirates University for several years and has held multiple positions within the university and the College of Law and Shariah. He has been a member of the “Minister of the Interior Award for Scientific Research” committee since 2011 and serves as an advisor to the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry. He has also contributed to the development and amendment of various laws in the UAE.

He has received numerous awards both locally and internationally, including the Shoman Award for Arab Scientists in Jordan in 1996, awarded by the International Islamic Chamber for his achievements in systems and regulations. He was also honored with the Al Owais Award for Scientific Innovation by the President and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the UAE’s Federal Personality of the Year in 2012.

In addition to his academic and advisory roles, he works as an arbitrator and lawyer, appearing before courts at all levels. He has authored several books on specialized legal and Shariah topics, including “Guarantee of Exposure and Entitlement,” “Contract of Sale: A Comparison of Islamic Jurisprudence and Law,” “The Theory of Right: A Comparison of Islamic Jurisprudence and Law,” and “The Theory of Law.” He has also published numerous research papers in prestigious academic journals and has participated in many local and international scientific conferences.
